PostSubject: Eire Aonair's Stance on Democratic Practices   Eire Aonair's Stance on Democratic Practices EmptyWed Sep 07, 2011 1:58 am

[1.0] The following document outlines Eire Aonair's official stance on democratic practices in eRepublik.

[1.1] This document is open to revision by the Party President of Eire Aonair.

[1.11] The Party President of Eire Aonair must have at least 50% membership vote approval to make any revision to this document.

[1.12] The Party President of Eire Aonair must have at least 50% membership vote approval to abolish or replace this document.

[1.13] Following any revision, abolition, or replacement of this document, 80% membership vote approval will be required for a 30 day period in order to make any further changes regarding this document. Following that 30 day period, a 50% membership vote approval will be required.

*note: "membership vote approval" refers to a certain percentage of affirmative votes by members within a time period of at least 24 hours. 100% member participation is not required, although all valid members must be enfranchised to participate in the vote.

Positions of Election

[2.0] Individuals running for political positions which require democratic election as decided by the game mechanics of eRepublic should be elected according to the democratic principles set forward in this document.

[2.1] Individuals running for official government positions which require democratic election as decided by the current government should be elected according to the democratic principles set forward in this document.

[2.2] Individuals appointed to official government positions should be appointed by an individual who was elected according to the democratic principles set forward in this document, and their term should only last as long as the term of the individual who appointed them.

[2.3] All citizens of a nation, who intend to stay and serve that nation, should be allowed to run for positions in government if the mechanics of the game allow it.

The Enfranchised Community

[3.0] Eire Aonair believes in a democratic republic where all citizens of a nation are equally enfranchised to vote and elect government officials.

[3.1] Only those citizens who intend to be a part of the community the elected government serves should take part in the election of a nation's government.

[3.11] Where a group of individuals attempt to corrupt the democratic process without the intention of remaining a part of the represented community, measures may be taken in order to protect the sovereignty of that nation to govern itself.

[3.2] All citizens loyal to the nation in question, regardless of age, sex, religion, political beliefs, or other differences, are enfranchised to take part in the election process.

Truly Enfranchised Individuals

[4.0] Each citizen's vote is their personal property and right. As such their vote is not subject to the command of any other person.

[4.1] Each citizen should have a total understanding and appreciation for their right to vote based on their own free thought and beliefs.

[4.2] Members of Eire Aonair should approach political campaigns as an attempt to convince members of the community rather than command them.

[4.21] Logical reasoning and solid arguments should be preferred to all other methods of campaign.

The Democratic Practices of Eire Aonair

[5.0] All votes concerning decision making or the election of a Party President for Eire Aonair should be open to all legitimate members of Eire Aonair.

[5.01] This does not mean that every member must take part in every vote, but that no effort should be made to exclude a citizen from taking part in a vote if they are a legitimate member of Eire Aonair.

[5.1] All creations or changes of party stance should be voted on by the members of Eire Aonair.

[5.2] The official political support of Eire Aonair for a political candidate represents a majority vote of the party's members.

[5.21] The official political support of Eire Aonair for a political candidate does not represent a guaranteed vote from all of the party's members.

[5.22] Members of Eire Aonair are always encouraged to make their own choice during an election by listening to the arguments available and applying their own free thought and beliefs.
